‘Ruffneck’ was a huge hit when performed with Elijah MC’s old band ‘Tribal Vibe‘. It made local headlines as download of the week in Brighton’s Argus. This was then picked up by 4 time scratch DJ Champion JFB, remixed and released on Sludge Records in 2013. This then caught the attention of Jungle/Drum and Bass producer Ed Solo. But it wasn’t until a live acoustic version circulated on YouTube, that Ed contacted Elijah MC to collaborate on the hit release for 2014.
Shortly after, one of the older remixes of Ruffneck was used in the 2015 Feature film ‘Pictures Of Lily‘ Gaining soundtrack credits on IMDB.
A sneak peak of the track dropped at Boomtown 2013 to 20k ravers on the Arcadia stage. Needless to say, it went off. When the track officially launched at Bestival 2013, the crowd went so insane for the track, that the organisers had to stop the show as there were too many people pushing to get in. The track has featured on endless playlists. It has also hit the No 1 spot on the Juno download list. Ruffneck became a top 10 hit for Juno’s Best of Drum and Bass 2014. Fun fact, while the music video was being filmed at the Concorde 2 in Brighton, it brought on the labour of Ed’s child. She was born within 12hrs.
